Apple I personal computer kit. They were hand-built by Wozniak and first shown to the public at the Homebrew Computer Club. Since then Apple has added many more computer related hardware.
Later on, Apple then introduced iPod, a line of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple and launched on October 23, 2001. Then manufactured greater and better iPods over the years up to today. The generations of iPods are these:
- The Shuffle
- The Nano
- The iPod Classic
- And The iPod Touch
The iPod Touch 4th Generation is such a Hot, and Popular product, and I love cool computer related products, that I decided it deserved to have a spot on my site for review. I looked at the Android and other Cell phone operating systems and I couldn't find any that I liked as well as the iPod iOS4 from Apple.
So lets get right to the main course, of the meat of this iPod Touch and see what the benefits are for us of this cool item.
Powerful Pioneering Technology at Your Fingertips
Apple was the first to come out with the technology in their popular iPhone of being able to touch the screen and make things happen. They have now integrated this technology into their iPods. All you have to do is, on the screen..
- and Slide
The software will obey your every command with just your fingertips. I don't know how they created such amazing technology but, I'm sure you can agree that it is really awesome stuff. Heres a little of what they say about the touch part of it.
the iPod Touch, how does it do what you want it to do? It starts with a chain reaction of commands. The Touch display has multiple layers of protective shield over a capacitive panel that senses your touch using the electrical fields. Then it transmits the information to the display below that.
Making it so you can glide through folders and albums with ease. You can Flick through Photos and enlarge them with a pinch, zoom in and out on them as well as a section of a web page, and control game elements precisely.
This type of technology can give you the feeling of magical powers. Its the type of coolness that will have your friends stretching their necks to be able to see what your doing and how your doing it on the iPod touch....awesome!
Sleek and Smooth Feel
Since it is a little bit larger than its earlier predecessors, with more eye space for us to see everything clearer, it is now the lightest and only a mere 7.2 millimeters thin. These features alone make the iPod touch from Apple, the perfect combination of stunning design and technology.
When you hold it in your hand it feels sleek and smooth to the touch. When you turn it on you are then blown away with its brilliant new Retina display. Which brings us to our next cool feature.
What is Retina Display
Your like me I'm sure, you dig eye candy. Its part of the coolness of digital computer products. Graphics that seem to draw you in. This Apple iPod doesn't take a second seat to any other piece of hardware for us here either. Check it out..
It has a 960-by-640 backlit LCD display first of all. It also packs a punch of 326 pixels per inch making it the baddest, highest-resolution iPod screen ever. Brilliant Apple engineers created pixels so small that the human eye can't tell the difference between individual pixels. Pixels that are just 78 micrometers across in size.
As you can distinguish, the text is remarkably sharper and graphics more incredibly vivid than ever before. Now that would make it hard to take your eyes off that kind of eye candy wouldn't it? Really cool stuff!
A4 To the Rescue
Wow, whats the A4? Just Apples new, more powerful processor, thats all. Who'd of thought you could have this much power in a little iPod? When the Apple engineers stepped up to the plate, they created a remarkably powerful yet power-efficient mobile chip for the new iPod.
In doing this the new iPod is now able to, just like your computer, perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and have fun such as gaming, which we will get to in a bit. I know you can't wait. Just hang with me.
All of this power in the A4 chip, all while maximizing the battery life. Yes it has been extended over its predecessors.
This Thing Can Dance
The new iTouch can hang with the best of computers even. Hows that you say? Glad you asked! Quite simple actually. Enter the Apple engineers again. The iTouch now includes a built-in 3 axis gyroscope. That joined with the accelerometer, the gyroscope makes the itouch capable of advanced motion sensing such as accelerated full 3-D attitude and rotation rate.
Whats all that mean? More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience. Are you beginning to see yet how really great this piece of hardware is? I love it to death.
Like the Double Mint Twins
You remember them don't you? They were beautiful twin sexy girls, and looked exactly alike. They were in the Double Mint chewing gum commercials years ago. Well thats whats happened to the iPod Touch. It has twin, dual, high definition cameras built right in.
new iTouch's cameras built in the front and back, take pics and video at an astounding HD rate of 720p. The back camera facing away from you is for taking pics and video of what your aiming at. The front one is for you.
It can capture beautiful footage even at low-light settings. With a built in microphone that will record conversations and music or any audio all at the same time. But why 2 cameras? Ah, that brings us to the next exciting feature for you. Called.....
Say Hello to FaceTime
They say "don't just say hello - smile!" FaceTime is the cool new feature of the 2 cameras I was telling you about up above. Now before I go into this benefit for you, let me say at this juncture that to do all these things you will need internet access with the iPod touch.
Oh don't worry, Apple has installed new Wi-Fi capability using 802.11 b/g and n into the unit making all this possible just about anywhere you go. And you can get it with 3G capability as well to work with your Verizon or AT&T carrier if thats what you need. So play till your hearts content. Now lets see what this thing called FaceTime is all about.
Since I write my own reviews and don't copy content from anybody, even the manufacturer, let me just give you an example of how it works. Now, I will remind you that your friend has to be using the same OS as you to be able to use this feature. And it can be an iPhone as well.
Bring up your favorite messenger program. You message your friend and say meet me in FaceTime. They join you in the program and you can talk and send pics and video to each other all at the same time your viewing each other in real time. Awesome or what! Thats what the front camera is for.
Now the back camera. Say your in the FaceTime with another friend, having fun. Oh, and it doesn't matter where in the world they are of course. Its the internet! But, you have other friends in the room or present with you. Your other friends would like to say "Hi" to your friend that your talking to.
You switch on the back camera. Now, not only can your friend online see you and hear you, but they can see and hear your friends that are present with you as well, all at the same time. Thats what FaceTime is all about. That, is a sweeter than "cherry pie" feature my friends. Oh, it just keeps gettin better.
Even the Android software can't do that!
More Fun Than You Have Time For
Now, this is what you been waiting for. Ah yes, the Gaming part! So your a big time gamer are ya? Well check out what the new Apple iPod Touch can do. It has a built in app called the Game Center. Allowing you to expand your social gaming experience. Uh huh, Multi-player gaming at its finest.
All you need to play is an iPod or an iPhone running the iOS 4.1. Just tap into the Game Center app icon on the desktop and sign in with your Apple ID. Thats it! Your ready to play. Link up with your friends or setup a game and wait for others to join in from around the globe.
Those you do have as your friends will show up in a list at the side of the screen. And you can even see what games they've been playing as well. Even see their scores, kills or whatever stats they have for the games they play.
With the new 3D Retina Display screen, you'll be immersed in HD graphics so real, you'll be ducking and dodging and crying out to your mother for help. Now thats awesome stuff.
We Forgot Didn't We
So far, I've just covered some of the highlights of what the iPod touch from Apple can do. There are many more. You just need to get yourself one to see all the other cool things you can do with it. It's more than I need to write about in this review. But theres one thing I forgot.
Of all the great and awesome features and benefits I've shown you so far, we forgot to talk about what the iTouch was originally created for. Can you guess what that is? Uh huh, Music. From the iPod shuffle to the 4th generation iPod touch, its all about the music baby. And theres way more to it now than when the shuffle was created.
So where do we begin. There are a blue million options to the music capability on the iTouch. Lets just start with iTunes. You download iTunes to your computer and just sync your iPod to the iTunes program. I'm going to presume you're familiar with the iTunes program here.
Making your listening pleasure more enjoyable. One of the cool features of iTunes. Another great feature of iPod touch is it has whats called Shake to Shuffle. You simply shake your iPod and it will move to the next song in your library immediately. Don't like the one your listening to? Just shake it! Get a new one. Just like that. Will Android do that? Not!
How Many Songs and Videos will the iPod Touch from Apple hold?
This review is about the iPod Touch 8gb. In keeping with my review criteria of, a reasonably priced high quality product. Of course Apple makes others that hold more information. Here they are and what they hold....
- iPod 8gb = 2000 songs, 10 hrs video
- iPod 32gb = 7000 songs, 40hrs video
- iPod 64gb = 14,000 songs, 80hrs video
Thats an incredible amount of songs and video folks. I can't imagine being able to listen to 14,000 songs and 80 hrs video. Let alone 2000 and 10 hrs video. Amazing!
The iPod Touch 4th generation comes also with Bluetooth technology. You can pair any wireless stereo headphones with it. You can have it charging in your bedroom and be out in your living room listening to music at the same time. Good feature.
Another cool thing about it is, if your a reader and like to read books, your in for a nice surprise. You can read all of Amazon's Kindle books as well as audible books on the iPod Touch. With Amazon's library of over 700,000 downloadable books, you'll never be without a book to read. No Kindle needed.
