Tips and How to Marinade with Beer for the BBQ Grill

beer and spices marinade
Summer is here now and grilling is in full swing. I know that I have already grilled at least a dozen times this year so far and theres much more to come. I'm sure you've done the same if your into grilling as well. Maybe even more than me.

Theres nothing like firing up the bbq and grilling and maybe even smoking your favorite meats. The smell of the grill is like a little piece of heaven in your backyard. Wonderful!

The Savory Idea

In this article I'll give you some tips on how to get the most out of your experience with the flavor. After all the flavor is what its all about. One of the favorite things I like to do, is marinade my meats with beer.

If you've never used this technique before now, then your in for a special treat with what you'll learn from this writing. There are many store bought marinades you can have for your meats. Some of those are..
  • Steak Marinade
  • Marinade for Chicken
  • Pork Tenderloin Marinade
Even grilled chicken recipes all come with their own special marinades.  But today I want to give you some special tips on marinading that will surely bless your taste buds.  It is done at home, no need to buy the marinade cause you'll make it yourself.

Then after you create your masterpiece, you'll use your grill to get the most flavor for your effort.  If you read my popular, earlier article "Tips for Smoking Meat on your Barbecue Grill", you'll be able to use those techniques to enhance the flavor even more.

Now then, lets get down to business and get our mouth watering masterpiece created. First you want to start with the type of meat you want to marinade.  I'm sure you know the most popular choices:
  • Hamburger
  • Steak
  • Chicken
  • Pork
  • Fish

Just about any meat really.  It doesn't matter really, because the flavor of the meat is boosted by the marinade.  For this example I'm going to use Steaks. We'll call this a steak marinade for our purposes.

Delicious-itize It

I had a friend of mine showed me how to do this and it works very well.  So I'm happy to pass this on to you.  Now that we have our choice piece of steaks, we first want to tenderize it.

Here, we don't mean to use meat tenderizer powder that you get at the grocery. What we want to do is use a meat tenderizing mallet.  Usually made of wood. Then we strike the meat several times on each side of the steak.

This will soften the meat and prepare it for the marinade.  Next we'll take a large bowl, big enough to lay the meat flat.  Then we take our beer and prepare it. Now some may ask, what is the best beer to use?

I don't think it matters.  Whether its an imported beer or domestic depending on what you like.  Its your choice.  I just use any domestic beer, preferably the cheapest.

We then pour enough beer into our bowl, just enough that you want to cover the meat with. No need to use more than you need here.  Next, I add in my spices that I want to use.

I use Garlic powder, and other meat seasonings, maybe even onion powder.  Also barbecue sauce makes a great addition to the marinade.  Just use whatever your heart desires for this.  After we've put in what spices we want to use we simply stir the mixture up really well.

Then we lay our steak into our steak marinade.  Cover it and set it in the refrigerator.  Now the real action happens.  And that happens over time.  We let the steak marinade in the bowl for approximately 3 - 5 days.

bourbon steak marinade
This will give the marinade enough time to permeate the steak.  During which time we at least once a day, turn the meat over.  After about 4 days we're ready to go.

Simply prepare your grill and if you choose to smoke it as well, put in your favorite type of wood and grill your steak to perfection.  Along with your favorite accompaniments such as potatoes or corn or maybe even asparagus, you have created something that would make even Martha Stewart's mouth water!

The Conclusion

Speaking of Martha Stewart, you can get her free "Summer Grillin" ebook with 51 delicious grilling recipes for your grill, just by signing up to my free newsletter up at the top right of the page.  Hurry, because that offer will only be there through this summer.  Your email is safe!

By doing so you will get all my updates and articles emailed to you as they come out.  I hope you get the most out these tips on how to marinade with beer for the bbq grill.  Enjoy your grilling this summer....

How to Understand Cloud Computing the Easy Way

cloud skyscrapersWhen I first heard of Cloud Computing it was very hard to wrap my mind around the concept. All I could see was clouds. I thought how does this relate to doing anything with computers.

In this article I will try to help you understand this real concept so you'll have an idea of how it works and how you can get involved. The truth is that we are already involved at this very moment and don't realize it.

The first thing that comes to ones mind when they don't understand something is to ask, what is it? So to help us understand it much easier thats where we'll start.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the online buzzword for what we all do every day in the online world. The conducting of more and more of our activity in the online world. The result of interacting with software and applications that reside out on a server. Also known as cloud storage.

Later on, I will hone this down to your personal computer or device and what you can do with it. Now though, here are some examples of how we do this thing called cloud computing every day without noticing.

Do you have an email address? I'm sure you do. Do you have a Gmail or Yahoo, etc. email address where you send and receive email? Then you are cloud computing!

These email accounts have their own dedicated servers where everybody accesses their mail from. An example of non-cloud computing would be if you have your own individual hosting account. Where you have your own email server in your own dedicated accounts.

Are you into the social scene online? Just about all of us are in one way or the other. Such as Facebook, Twitter, and many others. Then you are cloud computing!

understanding cloud computing
Do you share your photos and videos online through Youtube, Picasa, Flikr, etc.?
Then you are cloud computing! Where ever you access software or services online where everybody does the same thing then you are said, to be cloud computing.

Simplified Clouds

Now let me bring this down a little simpler for you as related to your computer. Say for example, you use Microsoft Word on a regular basis. Of course you have a copy of it installed and stored on your hard drive.

Today you would not need to have a copy on your hard drive because Microsoft would have a copy stored on their Windows Cloud server already installed and ready to use. You would simply login to your Windows Cloud account and begin to use Word there.

You see its very simple to understand really. There are many companies who are moving to this type of computing. Some companies include:

  • Windows Cloud
  • Cloud Hosting Companies

How many times within the past year have you seen advertising for Backup companies? Having trouble keeping enough CD's to backup your important information? No problem. Just get an online backup account at the many companies and backup your info there.

companies who use cloud computing
As you can see there are many cloud computing companies for you to interact with. It is quickly becoming the way of the future. And lots of them offer free space on their Cloud.

I recently did a review on the Apple ipod touch. In fact most of Apple's mobile computing devices are geared toward cloud computing. In the Fall of this year 2011, Apple will introduce their new iOS5 operating system and with it comes a 5gb free account on their iCloud.

The iPad, iPod touch, and their iPhone will all have the capability to interact with Apple's new Cloud Computing experience. It won't be long until somebody will probably come up with something called a cloud atlas to see all the companies available to this new experience.

The Wrap

You now have a very good understanding of something that is perplexing at first knowledge. Don't let cloud computing confuse you anymore. It's really very simple once you grasp it in terms of hardware.

The computer landscape is increasingly changing, all to make our lives more easier to live....information wise. The question is, will it really?

Telescopes and Astronomy: How GPS Makes It Better

the great galileoEver since time immemorial man has had a fascination with the stars.  The most famous person of astronomy, and greatest stargazer of them all was Galileo. Galileo of Italy lived from 1564 – 1642 making him 78 years old at the time of his death.

This most famous astronomer not only had made major improvements to the telescope and consequential astronomical observations, but was also known as the Father of Science and Physics.

Theres An Explorer in All of Us

Perhaps theres a little bit of Galileo in all of us.  I know that ever since I was a kid that, and even still today, when I look up into the stars there is amazement in my mind. And what is the most famous thing we look for when we look into the heavens?

Yes, the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper.  Then when I was a young boy I got my first telescope.  My amazement became even greater at that point.  Because now I was almost able to reach out and touch the stars.  It was awesome.

Telescopes and Astronomy have come a long way since the time of Galileo.  Even for the home stargazer like us.  Another thing I always thought would be a cool thing to experience would be to go to an observatory.

Super Seeing

And have an opportunity to look out into the Universe and see the Northern Lights up close for example.  With the power of an Observatory telescope this is absolutely possible today. How awesome do you think that would be.  Wow!

God's Amazing Universe
Bless The Older Way

Today for the casual or home telescope enthusiast, as well as those entrenched in Science and Physics, telescopes and astronomy have been coupled with the power of the Global Positioning System or GPS.  In this article I will tell you how that makes astronomy better for all of us to enjoy.

Most telescopes today are becoming more and more computerized like everything else.  In themselves you can get one that has very powerful magnification. The older telescopes without GPS are much harder to work with.  Let me explain.

Older telescopes that didn't have any computerization to them, were crude in the way you had to get them fixated on a certain star or planet that you wanted to observe. Once you were able to find the certain planet, for example you wanted to see, even though the magnification of your scope was very good it was difficult to observe because of the rotation of the earth.

You would have to continually adjust for the rotation of earth to be able to stay with your object in the heavens.  Making it difficult to observe.  Then you also had to deal with the shaking of your hands as you move it as well.

Oh, The Power of The New Way

Enter the newer telescopes with computerization and GPS.  Scopes with GPS are called Go-To telescopes.  These telescopes give you lots of information about the object your viewing.

Such as the name of the object or planet, how many moons it has, the distance, etc..etc.. Mucho amounts of information from one of these telescopes could make your kid ace his or her science class or astronomy project in a matter of minutes, not days or hours.  Very powerful!

Now lets see how the GPS side of this helps us enjoy astronomy so much better. These go-to telescopes are just that.  For example you locate the planet by the GPS that you want to observe.

a goto telescope
Once the GPS finds the planet, you lock on to it by the GPS.  These telescopes are equipped with computer mechanized motors on them.  You simply lock on to the object, focus, and then enjoy.

Because the GPS works with the computer mechanism to compensate for the rotation of the earth.  This means you only have to lock onto the object once. Never again for as long as you want to view it.

The telescope will constantly rotate with the rotation of the earth.  Staying locked on and focused to the object. The only thing you have to do is move with it to keep you eyes looking through the viewfinder.

The Better Way Conclusion

Is that cool or what?  This is how GPS and telescopes together make astronomy much better for us as enthusiasts.  These telescopes can run into the thousands of dollars depending on the power you want.

Here's one with very good quality, and power with a very reasonable price.  Have a look at it.....here.  Also don't forget Fathers Day is coming up this month....what an awesome gift this would be for Dad.....go here.

Happy stargazing!
